Concordia Weekend Help Line
With preference to our storage customers we’re going to have a Concordia Mechanic available by phone on Saturday & Sunday throughout the boating season.  We’ll be available to help you over the phone, and come out to help as needed.  The Weekend Help Line will be available Saturdays and Sundays from May 1st until October 16th between 9 & 4.

Further, if you want a review of any of your systems with the experts that take care of it – let us know!  Also – we can help with many kinds of on-water training including boat handling, electronics use, and on-water basic repairs you should know.  We have capable hands available for sailing, and captains available for deliveries. 

Concordia Mooring Availability
With a fair bit of turnover in the harbor, we still have a few moorings available. 
The available locations are suitable primarily for sailing vessels, and we can accommodate boats from 15’ to 45.’  If you know somebody who is looking for a mooring – please put them in touch with Carol Hill cahill@concordiaboats.com.

Hurricane Season Approaching
We all watch Hurricanes  If there is a Hurricane worth watching, we will not only be watching it carefully, we’ll share the source of our knowledge.  Look at the home page of our website when there is anything to worry about www.concordiaboats.com.  It is written by a good friend and customer of Concordia who combines fantastic skill with specific appreciation for dealing with Hurricanes as a boat owner in our region.   

Updated Logos
Updated logo’s:  Going to several boat shows a year since 2007, it became apparent that many people aren’t clear what “Concordia” actually is.  Many were familiar with the Concordia Yawls but weren’t sure what we were currently doing.   We’ve updated our logos to clarify what we do.

Marine grown on propellers was worse than ever in 2010.  Reasons could include warmer water or lack of use.  Several customers had issues with their boat’s not getting up to full RPM because they were encrusted with barnacles.

To limit the problem:
Use the boat more.
When you use the boat, spin the prop up to higher RPM on occasion to spin off growth
Keep a snorkel/mask & stiff putty knife aboard.
Or call for a clean before leaving on a trip.
Consider trying a paint product.  We’re not convinced this will help – but we’re willing to try any number of products that are available.

Lack of use also causes other problems in addition to fouled props.

Birds are more likely to move in
Dead batteries.
Corrosion in exhaust systems. With salt water captive in the system, scaling builds up.
House water fails (dump the water if you’re going to leave your boat unattended for more than 2 or 3 weeks).
Fuel deterioration – including algae growth in diesel, and Ethanol conversion to water in gas.

* If you’re going to be away from your boat for a while, consider having Concordia run it up to temperature and turn the propeller.

Water-Based Bottom Paint
Let us know if you would be interested in switching to more environmentally friendly water-based bottom paint (pettit-hydrocoat).  If your boat is stored inside, it may be too late to make a switch for 2011 – but let us know for 2012. If you are concerned about compatibility, see the link:
